Abel transforms with low regularity with applications to X-ray tomography on spherically symmetric manifolds

2017

We study ray transforms on spherically symmetric manifolds with a piecewise $C^{1,1}$ metric. Assuming the Herglotz condition, the X-ray transform is injective on the space of $L^2$ functions on such manifolds. We also prove injectivity results for broken ray transforms (with and without periodicity) on such manifolds with a $C^{1,1}$ metric. To make these problems tractable in low regularity, we introduce and study a class of generalized Abel transforms and study their properties. This low regularity setting is relevant for geophysical applications.

Symbolic integration of hyperexponential 1-forms

2019

Let $H$ be a hyperexponential function in $n$ variables $x=(x_1,\dots,x_n)$ with coefficients in a field $\mathbb{K}$, $[\mathbb{K}:\mathbb{Q}] <\infty$, and $\omega$ a rational differential $1$-form. Assume that $H\omega$ is closed and $H$ transcendental. We prove using Schanuel conjecture that there exist a univariate function $f$ and multivariate rational functions $F,R$ such that $\int H\omega= f(F(x))+H(x)R(x)$. We present an algorithm to compute this decomposition. This allows us to present an algorithm to construct a basis of the cohomology of differential $1$-forms with coefficients in $H\mathbb{K}[x,1/(SD)]$ for a given $H$, $D$ being the denominator of $dH/H$ and $S\in\mathbb{K}[x…

The Poincar\'e-Cartan Form in Superfield Theory

2018

An intrinsic description of the Hamilton-Cartan formalism for first-order Berezinian variational problems determined by a submersion of supermanifolds is given. This is achieved by studying the associated higher-order graded variational problem through the Poincar\'e-Cartan form. Noether theorem and examples from superfield theory and supermechanics are also discussed.

$n$-harmonic coordinates and the regularity of conformal mappings

2014

This article studies the smoothness of conformal mappings between two Riemannian manifolds whose metric tensors have limited regularity. We show that any bi-Lipschitz conformal mapping or $1$-quasiregular mapping between two manifolds with $C^r$ metric tensors ($r > 1$) is a $C^{r+1}$ conformal (local) diffeomorphism. This result was proved in [12, 27, 33], but we give a new proof of this fact. The proof is based on $n$-harmonic coordinates, a generalization of the standard harmonic coordinates that is particularly suited to studying conformal mappings. We establish the existence of a $p$-harmonic coordinate system for $1 < p < \infty$ on any Riemannian manifold.

Conformality and $Q$-harmonicity in sub-Riemannian manifolds

2016

We prove the equivalence of several natural notions of conformal maps between sub-Riemannian manifolds. Our main contribution is in the setting of those manifolds that support a suitable regularity theory for subelliptic $p$-Laplacian operators. For such manifolds we prove a Liouville-type theorem, i.e., 1-quasiconformal maps are smooth. In particular, we prove that contact manifolds support the suitable regularity. The main new technical tools are a sub-Riemannian version of p-harmonic coordinates and a technique of propagation of regularity from horizontal layers.

A construction of Frobenius manifolds from stability conditions

2018

A finite quiver $Q$ without loops or 2-cycles defines a 3CY triangulated category $D(Q)$ and a finite heart $A(Q)$. We show that if $Q$ satisfies some (strong) conditions then the space of stability conditions $Stab(A(Q))$ supported on this heart admits a natural family of semisimple Frobenius manifold structures, constructed using the invariants counting semistable objects in $D(Q)$. In the case of $A_n$ evaluating the family at a special point we recover a branch of the Saito Frobenius structure of the $A_n$ singularity $y^2 = x^{n+1}$. We give examples where applying the construction to each mutation of $Q$ and evaluating the families at a special point yields a different branch of the m…

The Schouten - Nijenhuis bracket, cohomology and generalized Poisson structures

1996

Newly introduced generalized Poisson structures based on suitable skew-symmetric contravariant tensors of even order are discussed in terms of the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. The associated `Jacobi identities' are expressed as conditions on these tensors, the cohomological contents of which is given. In particular, we determine the linear generalized Poisson structures which can be constructed on the dual spaces of simple Lie algebras.

On the K-stability of complete intersections in polarized manifolds

2011

We consider the problem of existence of constant scalar curvature Kaehler metrics on complete intersections of sections of vector bundles. In particular we give general formulas relating the Futaki invariant of such a manifold to the weight of sections defining it and to the Futaki invariant of the ambient manifold. As applications we give a new Mukai-Umemura-Tian like example of Fano 5-fold admitting no Kaehler-Einstein metric and a strong evidence of K-stability of complete intersections on Grassmannians.

Short time existence of the classical solution to the fractional mean curvature flow

2019

Abstract We establish short-time existence of the smooth solution to the fractional mean curvature flow when the initial set is bounded and C 1 , 1 -regular. We provide the same result also for the volume preserving fractional mean curvature flow.

Sard property for the endpoint map on some Carnot groups

2016

In Carnot-Caratheodory or sub-Riemannian geometry, one of the major open problems is whether the conclusions of Sard's theorem holds for the endpoint map, a canonical map from an infinite-dimensional path space to the underlying finite-dimensional manifold. The set of critical values for the endpoint map is also known as abnormal set, being the set of endpoints of abnormal extremals leaving the base point. We prove that a strong version of Sard's property holds for all step-2 Carnot groups and several other classes of Lie groups endowed with left-invariant distributions. Namely, we prove that the abnormal set lies in a proper analytic subvariety. In doing so we examine several characterizat…
